DocuClub Screenings: MEXICAN DREAM
Our next DocuClub screening will take place on Wednesday April 18 at DCTV, at 7p.m., located at 87 Lafayette (at Walker). This month, we will screen a rough cut of MEXICAN DREAM. Our moderator will be Vanessa Erazo of New York International Latino Film Festival.
MEXICAN DREAM is about one group of indigenous migrants who change a pastoral but poverty-stricken life in Mexico for a new home in a small meatpacking town in Minnesota. It introduces several families from an impoverished agrarian community in the state of Oaxaca in southern Mexico. It also presents a Midwestern meatpacking town that was at the center of a crushing national defeat of the meatpacker’s union during the Reagan administration, where the Mexican migrants have formed their own community that exists uncomfortably alongside the mostly white population.
